    Weightlifting Movement Demos

Time to no longer be intimidated or scared.

You can post pictures in your comments below! Please feel free to share your P3 living stuff you're doing to help other P3toLifers visualize and get ideas for how to do this!

    Movement 1: The DEADLIFT Baby

Actually, it's just called a deadlift. Not a deadlift baby. Just realized my silly side could be confusing.

    Movement 2: Back Squat

One of the simplest yet best things you could ever do for your body now and for your future old self.

    Movement 3: Front Squat

Just cuz it's boring to do only 1 type of squat. So let's move our hands around a 'lil.

    MOVEMENT 4: The Clean

Yes. A whole new type of cleaning that doesn't involve wiping, sweeping or washing ANYTHING!

    Movement 5: Overhead Squat

Keep it light (like with this broom!) and it don't have to be scary..

    Movement 6: SNATCH

Snatch that cupcake and run! JK. It's totally not that.

    Movement 7: Shoulder Press

    pr-pr-pr-press it up!

    movement 8: PUSH Press

Let's add a wee bit more power to our shoulder press by getting our hips involved. Hips don't lie! :)-

    Movement 9: Push Jerk

Let's add make it easier to lift even a little MORE weight by landing as a shorter person (then naturally the weight doesn't have to get pushed up so high!)

    1. How many reps of each?

      1. Rayzel says:

Hey! Depends on the weight you are lifting and how hard that weight is for you of course, but for some workouts you might use a weight that you can do 7-10 reps at a time – this would be more a heart-rate/aerobic workout, and then for more muscle growth, heavier lifts would be doing like five sets of 5, for five sets of 3, or working up to a 1 rep max – where you keep adding weight, doing 1 rep, until you can no longer do 1 rep – that’s your 1 rep max (and typically you do several sets to get to that point as you gradually add weight) – I hope that helps!

    2. None of the videos are playing.

      1. Rayzel says:

Hey Colleen! I just checked them and they seem to playing fine now- I’m wondering if either you were in a bad internet connection or if the vimeo serve may have temporarily had an issue when you were trying to view them. The other thing you can do if you’re still having trouble is to click the little word “video” below the video and directly download the video itself – then after that you could play it without a data connection.
