There are quite a few books that expound on both the history and proof of the efficacy of fasting and I firmly believe in it's use, when done the right way, myself.
When You Have A Choice- Picking Your Fast Day
When you're in phase 3, ideally you want to catch major gains as quickly as you can and fast immediately. It just seems to work better this way. Once you let weight "lie around" on ya for a bit, it seems like it wants to stick to ya more. ;0
That said, once you are in Phase 4, you want to balance seeing the need to fast with what your week's schedule looks like. Some days are just going to be mentally/emotionally inordinately hard to fast, and in these cases, it seems like the strain and the potential of not being able to carry it out isn't worth choosing to do a fast on a difficult day.
So if you have a luncheon planned with your in-laws on a Wednesday, and you have a full day of work on Thursday- me personally, I would choose Thursday to fast because not eating at the luncheon will be super hard, and when I am working, the day FLIES by and the fast day happens almost without thought. So even if I notice on Tuesday that my weight is higher than normal, while I might try to eat a little cleaner on Wednesday- say after the luncheon eat lean chicken breast and a phase 3 smoothie for dinner or something, but I will PLAN to do a fast day on Thursday when it's going to go fast and feel much easier.
Hi Rayzel, is it ok or recommended to do daily intermittent fasting (I.e. not eating before noon or after 8)?
Hey there! That’s a big question- I do fast in a sense daily since I don’t eat breakfast myself these days- my first meal of the day is around 12/1pm. When it comes to deciding on an eating window though, I find for myself that I can only fast for about 16-18 hours before it get quite uncomfortable which to me means it’s not healthy and that I do not and then- my normal fast is like 10pm to 12 noon next day so like 14 hours – – so if a 16 hour fast window daily feels okay to you, might be, but play around with that – for many women fasting can be okay if the window isn’t too severely restricted especially if doing daily.
I would like to continue losing weight. Is there a way to eat in phase 3 and still loss a few more pounds (10-15 lbs)? Possibly through weekly fast? Or do I have to wait, stabilize, and complete phase 4 to do another round of HCG?
Hey there – if you are eating under your maintenance calories you will likely lose weight, and many ladies do continue to lose some weight at least the first 2 weeks of P3, but not all. But you can also do a weekly fast like you mentioned. I personally have no issue with trying to lose in P3 – from what I’ve seen the important thing is that when you are ready to be truly in maintenance that you add things gradually so that stabilization occurs- WHEN you do this I haven’t seen to matter.
